Technology
This 2 day-tour will help you to understand the challenges which result from a lack of access to technology and the benefits of access.
Mobile banking, Internet-based health diagnostics, online education and other ICT-based services are only part of that picture. More basic technologies like bio-gas enable people to work and study, prevent respirational diseases, make homes safer and reduce deforestation. Solar power is not only a nice-to-have alternative energy source but often the only way to have electricity in rural areas. We will visit, discuss with, and learn from those who provide access to basic and more advanced technological solutions for sustainable and inclusive development in Nepal.
Agriculture
The (social) entrepreneurs and innovators you will meet in this 2 days-tour are determined to introduce new plants and practices, increase yield, promote cash crops, improve the quality of production, process locally or provide the fertilizer, information and seeds required by farmers.
All of them put strong emphasis on the empowerment of rural communities and the environmental sustainability of their interventions. You will visit some of them on site (depending on the season we can choose from coffee, tea, bamboo, strawberry, vegetable or mushroom production) and meet others at their retail outlets or offices.
Young Innovators, Artists & Activists
Over two days, this tour will introduce you to some of the youngsters who refuse to take the popular road across the border and those who have already returned to change Nepal.
You will meet young (social) entrepreneurs who run IT startups, agribusinesses, design studios or fashion labels and young activists who cycle for a cleaner future or speak out for justice and participation. We will also introduce you to some (street) artists who bring attention to social challenges and hopefully even have the chance to see a group of young circus artists practice their skills.
Investment
There is an increasing interest of investors in Nepal's innovative businesses. If you are one of them, please contact us to visit the most promising start-ups.
We are working on more:
The Tree Hugger Environmental Tour; the tour on most and less successful development projects; a journey to discover the most interesting local NGOs;... if you want us to hurry up and take you on one of these, shoot us an e-mail and we speed up the process.
